Cubacar/Transtur imposes a
group of conditions for the rental service. You must meet
these conditions when you rent one of the cars. Please read
carefully what is explained below.

- Rentals will not be made for less than 3
days. 24 hours count as one day.
- A reservation can be made up to 7 days prior to departure.
Reservations with less than 7 days prior to departure will
pnly be accepted after consulting Islands and More. For
reservations made between 14 and 7 days prior to departure
you will be charged EUR25 extra. For bookings with
the amount of less than EUR 200 there will be a handling
fee of EUR 15.
- The minimum age of a driver is 25 years.
- The gas that you leave in the deposit won't be refunded
by by the renting company. We suggest you to leave back
the car with the less amount of gas in deposit.
- The insurance is mandatory.
- A national driving licencens must be shown when signing
the rental contract.
- The contract covers only one driver. Each additional driver
must be included in the contract as it is opened at a cost
of CUC 3 per day/per driver.
- You have the possibility to pick up the car either at
an airport office, which are open for 24 hours or at a town
office, which are open from 09.00h a.m. to 05.00h p.m.
- If the car is left in a different province from the one
in which it was rented, you must pay for the return of the
car to its province of origin. You can request these fares
by e-mail.
- Cubacar/Transtur confirms
only car categories, and not models. Cubacar will try
to satisfy your model requests, but the confirmation you
receive stands only for the car class.
- Cubacar/Transtur reserves
the right to modify the rates of its car classes without
advise. The reservations that have paid the initial amount
will not be affected by any price raise.
- You can pay the rent in cash or by banktransfer.
- When you rent the car you must make a warranty deposit.
This amount will be refunded to you at the end of the rental
period. The warranty deposit prices vary between CUC 200
und CUC 800. The payment for the warranty deposit and the
insurance can be made by credit card. In the case of credit
card payment, please note that the creditcard must not be
backed up by american banks (Canadian banks are OK). Credit
cards of type Visa, MasterCard/Eurocard, JCB are accepted.
You have to pay for the warranty deposit and the insurance
at point of rental in Cuba.
- In case of an accident/damage you have to call the police.
Any damage must be reported to Cubacar
within 24 hours. When driving drunk or on drugs no
insurance will pay for any damage caused.
- Rebooking is a cancellation and a new reservation.
- Cancellation penalties are:
- Change of pick up/drop off office or change of rental
time: EUR 25
- up to 21 days before renting the car 20% of the fare
- 20 up to 8 days before renting the car 40% of the fare
- 7 days or less before renting the car 50% of the fare
- anytime at least EUR 100
While a reservation is sent to Cuba and the reservation
number is on request no changes are possible.
Cancellations or changes of reservation have to be reported
to us in a written way (e-mail, fax, by post). Failing
to cancel a reservation or report a change causes 100%
cancellation penalty.
